Blazing the Trail: Women Lighting the Way
connects seven musical pieces by women composers, to the profiles of seven historic women of our region who were pioneers in the various fields of their endeavors.

Tri-County Symphonic Band and Lighting the Way: Historic Women of SouthCoast have developed a fresh perspective on where women are now and how they have achieved numerous milestones over the years. During Blazing the Trail, local women will take the podium to illustrate stories of our trailblazers. The Tri-County Symphonic Band frames the stories with a cornucopia of sonic delights from living, thriving composers as well as from one vintage composer of the 19th century. Clarinetist Pattie Marshall joins us in the bright and sonorous Rhapsody for Solo Clarinet and Band, by Anne McGinty.

Blazing the Trail highlights these historic women of the SouthCoast:

Elizabeth Carter Brooks

Elizabeth Piper Ensley

Marie Equi

Helena De Kay Gilder

Elizabeth Taber

Mary T. Vermette
